This is a pre-1948 signed Beto necklace that is 16in. long and the drop is 2.25 x1 3/8 in. Beto was an accomplished silversmith and I enjoy buying his pieces. Not enough is known about him but all that owns one of his pieces wants to know more. There are no chips or damage to this piece. The finish is smooth but the pictures seem to show what looks to be a matte finish but it is smooth. What you see are the tiniest lines of the natural grain in the wood and it is amazing to me that they could be so close together. This is a beautiful mahogany color of wood with a heavy solid mounting of better than sterling. Even though the wood is light in weight the piece still weighs a heavy 65 grams. The Asian influences are seen in the works of many Taxco maestros of the Spratling era and this one is beautifully rendered with precision and quality. This is a rare find and it is collector quality. Impressive, just LOOK AT THAT NECKLACE!
