89 years have passed since the beginning of the Mexican Silver Renaissance. When collecting these jewels from this era we want beautiful condition and we want them to be as original as can be. Safety chains however could have been replaced multiple times due to Metal Fatigue or simply getting hung on something and jerked off. Does this affect the value to have this chain replaced or even left off? Safety chains do not affect the price of vintage Mexican Silver. No one can prove a claim that a safety chain is original. Even provenance can not be trusted with the history of a safety chain. Anyone can replace them with readily available, identical chain link.
Many individuals want them removed due to difficulty putting the bracelet on and off due to tangling and that is ok too if it makes the wearer more comfortable and the clasp is functioning as it should. At the end of the day enjoy wearing your Mexican Silver Renaissance treasure with or without a safety chain and do not worry about the value the chain is to your investment.
