Many believe the quetzal to be the most beautiful bird in the world. Made of higher than 925 sterling and marked Silver Mexico this is an old repousse brooch possibly before 1940. It is a fabulous rendition of the famed quetzal bird only lacking in the ability to have it's bright colors. The hand carving however more than makes up for that giving it a texture that truly depicts the quetzal appearance in shape and form. The bird is long at 6in. and weighs 25 grams heavy. The widest point on the bird at a bit of an angle is 1.5 inches. Perhaps we do not wear brooches like in older days but this piece would look fabulous in a shadow box and displayed on the wall as it is truly an art piece.
